The harmonious and intoxicating sound of up and coming band ‘Blue Eyes Don’t Lie’ has captivated the town of Hull and left many stunned by their raw and unique talent! After only having been together for a little over four months they’re tight and crisp music would suggest differently. The band’s original line up was formulated in May this year and despite a few alterations and replacements to the group the current four members of the band stand strong and appear to be making a bee-line for the top!
In April 2011 lead singer and rhythmic guitar player Josh Mott contacted the five possible members via the social network, Facebook, informing them of his intention to start a band. After days of exchanging various covers by each individual, Josh came to a decision and organised for the five strangers to meet. The group of five consisted of Josh Mott himself, Danny Binnington the lead guitarist, Connor Hodgins the base guitarist, a synth player and a drummer. Following numerous rehearsals the group agreed they no longer required a synthesizer and chose to replace drummer, Lewis Tillison, with current member Tom Furniss. The adjustments have helped the artists play to their full potential and the outcome is a truly stimulating sound. Maybe facebook is an asset after all?
The band currently places themselves in the pop-rock category of music. However, as their music develops they are gradually edging to the slightly more diverse genre of alternative-rock with its loud and distorted guitar sounds. The bands main influences include, British rock band ‘You Me At Six’ and world famous group ‘The Blackout’, purely for their originality and raw talent. Amongst their busy schedules the boys still find time to rehearse both at home separately and together in various studios around Hull’s city centre. One of them a youth centre located on Holderness road and another, a studio situated on Newland Avenue. The boys often spend a minimum of three hours practicing and perfecting their songs. Depending on upcoming gigs the hours of rehearsal tend to vary, reaching five to six consecutive hours! These boys clearly don’t believe in doing things by halves!
The boys are continuously producing new melodies and songs and working on ways to expand. Three of their most popular songs have been their first ever piece produced ‘Room for Improvement’, the exceptional and first class song ‘Nothing at All’ and the weird but wonderful ‘Passion is your Worst Enemy’, all of which have received a standing ovation from their crowds of supporters. The band have hosted some of the hottest gigs, they’re first at Hull’s well-known event ‘The Freedom Festival’ on the 3rd of September. The group also stole the show in ‘The Sesh’ at ‘Linnet and Lark’ this month already guaranteeing them a spot at the next play date in January 2012. It seems ‘Blue Eyes Don’t Lie’ are looking at a busy year next year before they’ve even had chance to finish this one!
It has now become evident that promoters have began to follow the band’s movements and are showing an ever-growing interest in their exclusive style. Warren Records, Smash it Up Productions and Arcade Promotions are just some of the bands main followers. At this stage in the world of music the boys are excelling at a rapid rate. As a group they aim to turn their dream into a career and make an impact on the millions of music lovers out there. It is also an aspiration of theirs to tour the United Kingdom and eventually tour worldwide, performing in some of the biggest venues such as the O2 Arena and the M.E.N Arena. They strive to reach their goals no matter what the sacrifices!
‘Blue Eyes Don’t Lie’ is beyond question the future of music. Their raw talent and passion could be the key needed to re-establish quality sound beyond all of the computerisation and editing of modern day-music.
“To us, music is more a way of life than just a hobby” says lead guitarist, Danny Binnington. A truly inspiring statement!
